Jonathan Pfeffer, MSW, LSW

(Center City Office and Telehealth)

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist living in Philadelphia who provides individual therapy to adults. I provide therapy out of the Center City office and virtually.

My holistic approach springs from a belief in a person’s lifelong potential for change and the creative capacity of all. I have a deep commitment to helping others navigate how unresolved histories impact our present capacities to shape unwritten futures. I am a passionate advocate for the viability of “unconventional” paths. My aim is to support clients as they uncover what’s important to them, prioritize what they truly want, and let go of self-defeating patterns.

During my time at Bryn Mawr’s Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research, I supported neurodiverse students in an undergraduate college setting, and at a CBH-affiliated group practice helping low-fee clients move toward greater autonomy and emotional resilience, particularly in facing challenges with impulsivity, emotional reactivity, and anger.

My current work in outpatient community mental health involves supporting individuals as they transition from the shelter and carceral systems, navigate substance use, and process family of origin issues, including abuse and neglect. I also help those seeking to rebuild trust with men and heal from breaches in trust and intimacy. I have a keen interest in working with immigrants, refugees, asylum-seekers, and their adult children.
